From a quiet street to a European attraction. Interview with one of the founders of Tekstylia Cafe in "Gazeta Wyborcza"

"It was an ordinary, quiet street, with peaceful residents and little traffic. Today it is a popular promenade and a European tourist attraction."

These words, spoken by one of the co-founders of our Pikawa cafe and Tekstylia Cafe restaurant, open an extraordinary story about the metamorphosis that the heart of Gdańsk has undergone. In the latest interview for the Tricity edition of "Gazeta Wyborcza", we had the opportunity to talk about how the City of Neptune has changed before our very eyes and how Szeroka Street has become one of the most frequently visited places by tourists from all over Europe.

When we took our first steps years ago, Szeroka Street looked completely different. Today, looking from the perspective of our summer garden and atmospheric interior, we see a bustling promenade where languages from all over the world, the smell of freshly brewed specialty coffee, and the sounds of music mix together.

Being a part of this transformation is not only a reason to be proud, but above all, an incredible journey for us. Observing how Gdańsk evolves into a modern, European metropolis, which at the same time proudly cultivates its historical identity, gives us enormous motivation to act every day.

Places with a soul are created by people

The interview for "Gazeta Wyborcza" strongly echoes what has always been the foundation of Tekstylia Cafe (and our sister Pikawa) – authenticity and passion. We have created a space that intrigues and allows for a moment of respite. Our unique decor, referring to the tailoring history with murals and tables supported by cast-iron sewing machines, perfectly fits into this sentimental yet modern character of Gdańsk.

However, the most beautiful thing about this story is that we do not create it alone.
